Freshmen Over the Wall

In what was an achievement based on teamwork, every freshman completed the arduous physical task of scaling the large wall in the pit. Ten years ago, the low-elements were added to help freshman learn team-building skills and prepare them for the high-elements they must scale in their sophomore year. In the past 9 years there has only been one other class that successfully made it over the obstacle.

Mr. Spillane, the PE teacher who witnessed his class complete the challenge, said, “There was some positive peer pressure… [and] they all encouraged each other [until] they all got over.” Getting over the large wall is definitely an achievement in teamwork, and Mr. Spillane agreed wholeheartedly. He and his fellow teachers, Mr. Bigos and Mr. Antonucci, have successfully prepared their students and it seems that everyone’s hard work has paid off. They have helped form a group that is cooperative and motivates each other, as is evident by their success. Being only the second group to completely scale the wall is proof the teachers worked hard to ensure all students felt included and useful. A job well done for all involved.

When asked his final thoughts on the matter, Mr. Spillane replied, “It was awesome.”
