Do you have questions about the PARCC? Do you feel threatened by the loss of class time due to testing? Do you find the switch from pencil and paper to computerized testing daunting? We too struggled with these issues, which is why we-the Advanced Journalism class-held a panel discussion with a conglomeration of members of the school community. Among those who participated in this discussion were Principal Rinella, Assistant Principal of Guidance Mrs. Nicholas, Mrs. Fran and Ms. Grimm representing the math and English departments respectively, with Mrs. Balsamo representing the special education department. Students present include freshmen Sage Levine and Caitlin Mendina, sophomore Allison Straub, and junior Stephanie Karcz. Members of the panel voiced their opinions on the implementation of the PARCC while fielding questions posed by the Advanced Journalism students. Topics of concern included but were not limited to: class time spent preparing for the exam, the use of technology, and issues related to the high quantity of students who refused to take the test.
