Over Spring Break 2017, seniors and juniors of Middletown High School South were given the opportunity of a lifetime. One week with shoddy WiFi, repetitive meals, and sunburn. Mrs. Barney, her son, Mr. Sullivan, and Mrs. Hoffman chaperoned twenty-seven South students in a foreign country, all while immersing the students in a different culture. Belize is a beautiful, diverse country located in Central America. The activities varied greatly, including cave tubing, zip lining, jungle survival hikes, exploring ancient Mayan temples, and even a day trip to the zoo. The trip lasted 8 days, and most of the trip was spent on the mainland of Belize, but the last two days were spent on a tiny tropical island just off the coast. The tour guide, Kenny, was very informed and taught us about his home country while making it fun. The students and chaperones were devastated to leave and will never forget the amazing memories and bonds created on this trip.
