As promised Pan reveals the origins of Peter Pan and his adventures in Neverland. Director Joe Wright did a decent job of bringing this movie to life. Hugh Jackman does a pretty job portraying the evil — yet witty — Blackbeard, Rooney Mara portrays a great Tiger Lily, Garrett Hedlund portrays James Hook — Peter’s friend-turned-rival who at first seems stubborn, selfish — and a bit immature — and Levi Miller does an excellent job portraying Peter Pan in his debut. This film’s thematic elements — more specifically — the scenery and special effects — really stand out to me. It’s a bit easy to point out the fact that most of the special effects are just animation — but they do sell the story, and really do capture our imaginations. What would Peter Pan be without it’s thick, blue, London night sky, and the magical world of Neverland? The amazing team behind this movie really put a lot of effort creating a whole new vision of Peter Pan. However, the film’s pacing did tend to be rather slow… and the dialogue is not enough to really move the story forward.

This movie gave me a good feel from the beginning. I am a huge fan of the tale of Peter Pan, and I was eager to learn how his  story came to be. I myself can relate to Peter Pan in various ways. I myself feel imaginative,  free spirited, — and always dreamt of flying. If there’s any fictional character I could be — it would no doubt — be Peter Pan. Who wouldn’t want to be him? Being able to soar through the clouds without wings? Staying a kid forever? Being able to do anything you want by using your imagination? This movie is basically for children — but in my opinion — I feel it’s a story for anybody who’s ever loved Peter Pan.

This film is a great prequel for revealing the origin of one fairytale read by children of all ages. It’s magical, has a few slips of action, and gives us all a few good laughs. I highly recommend this movie. It might seem like a children’s movie, but I can assure you it’s for everyone.
