South Alumnus Dan Corey Granted Coveted Obama Interview!

Dan Corey, a MHSS Alumnus ’14 is currently a sophomore at Rutgers University and Editor-in Chief of The Daily Targum, Rutger’s student newspaper. On Thursday April 28, 2016  Corey was attending the White House College Reporter Day in the White House briefing room when he was granted one of the most enviable interviews in the field of Journalism. Unexpectedly, President Obama walked into the press conference being held by his press secretary Josh Earnest when he looked into the crowd and called on Corey for the first question. That’s when Corey introduced himself as the EIC of Rutger’s Targum and asked “Well, in light of the news of you speaking at our commencement, I was wondering, would you be interested in being interviewed by our newspaper?” Obama chuckled, clearly impressed with Corey’s fortitude, “That’s a good use of your time right there,” Obama said. “I have to say that normally I coordinate carefully with my press team before we grant interviews, but I am favorably disposed towards giving you a little bit of time. It may not be a really long interview, but I figure we can give the college newspaper a little bit of play.”

The Eagle Eye and MHSS are very proud of Dan’s accomplishments as both Editor-in-Chief of The Daily Targum and as a strong journalist. Way to go Dan!
