Action for Animals is a club focused on raising money and awareness for shelter animals in need. Club members organize fundraisers and drives that provide donation money, blankets, pet food, collars, and more for organizations like the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals). According to the Monmouth County ASPCA’s website, they are always in need of donations to care for the animals and help fight for them legally. They receive little to no funding from federal or local governments, so they depend on the public and clubs like Action for Animals to help. For the past three years, Mrs. Grootenboer was the advisor for the club. This year, a new advisor has been appointed. Our librarian, Mrs. Nagy, now leads the club alongside Saige Kreindler. “I decided to be the advisor of the club because I obviously love animals (she gestured at River) and I already know Saige well,” Mrs. Nagy remarked when asked about why she decided to take on the position. The club’s first fundraiser of the year will be their annual pet costume contest, so be on the lookout for flyers in the hallway!
