Thanks for another year, South!
As the 2024 school year comes to a close, so does my time as Editor-in-Chief of The Eagle Eye. Graduation is rapidly approaching; while I am not sure I’m ready to leave the people this place has given me, I know MHSS has prepared me for life after high school. While students are wrapping up their classes and preparing for finals, The Eagle Eye has been working very hard to bring you this end-of-the-year print issue. We have been interviewing, collecting, writing, and editing, creating something to remember and commemorate our 2023-2024 school year.
I would first like to thank The Eagle Eye advisors, Mrs. Whitmore and Mrs. Altz McKittrick, for always encouraging and inspiring the staff. Without their hard work and determination, truly none of this would be possible. To my editors and staff members, thank you for all of the hard work and time that you have put into not only this issue, but all of our other projects this year. Most importantly, to our readers, thank you for your continuous encouragement. I am immensely grateful to have an outlet where I can share my work and my hobby with people. It is wonderful to know that we have a community that constantly supports us and what we do.
Finally, to my fellow seniors: endings are scary. Look towards the future with excitement and appreciation rather than sadness. Our next steps will bring brand new, beautiful experiences. Don’t be afraid to branch out, try new things, and follow your passions. Always believe in what you are capable of, and take control of your life and your dreams. I would like to wish everyone success in their future endeavors. May you put your best foot forward and end your South career with happiness and positivity.
This issue’s publication feels particularly bittersweet, as it will be my last contribution to The Eagle Eye. As another year working on our school newspaper comes to a close, I look back fondly at everything we have accomplished this year. I sincerely hope that you all enjoy this issue as much as I do. Thank you for these past four years!
All the best,
Meghan Merlino
