On October 10, 2012 the CW launched the new TV series “Arrow”. The new series features Stephen Amell , who has appeared in TV series’ including Flashpoint, Blue Mountain State, CSI: Miami, NCIS: Los Angeles, 90210, and Hung. Amell has only appeared as a guest star these shows and getting his first appearance as the main role in “Arrow”.
“Arrow” is an action-adventure series based on Oliver Queen, a billionaire who was shipwrecked and believed dead for five years. Queen returns home a new man and seeks out to protect the people of his town Starling City. Queen takes on the role of a superhero known as “Arrow”, a green-hooded hero whose goal is to payback anyone who has done wrong to the people in Starling City. Before Queen’s father dies he gives him a list of people that have done wrong to the people, and Oliver begins his quest to go after them.
The series features great cinematography, using many different angles and types of shots. The picture quality is amazing yet realistic at the same time. This is a fantastic quality about the series. The first episode opens up with Oliver running through a wooded area, and the beautiful cinematography perfectly captures the scene. Oliver’s appearance is very realistic for a man who has been living on a deserted island for the past five years. His pants are ripped up and his beard is grown very thick and full. This exemplifies of the great imagery you can see while watching “Arrow”.
The acting in “Arrow” is also phenomenal, despite the fact that none of the actors featured in “Arrow” have had prominent roles before this series. The actors in the show far exceed normal television actors and are far more natural. All of the main actors display real emotion and get into their roles very effectively.
“Arrow” is a captivating series that airs every Wednesday at 8 P.M. If you like action-adventure series this should definitely be on your list of series’ to watch. Even if you are not a fan of these types of shows, “Arrow” will grab your attention immediately.
