Do you think women and men should be paid the same?
Do you think men and women should be awarded the same opportunities?
Do you think that women’s careers are just as important as their male counterpart’s?
Do you think that all women should have access to affordable birth control?

While I see where you are coming from in the sense that the word “feminism” has become attached to a conglomerate of contradicting definitions– “women are superior” (which is not what feminism TRULY is, versus “equality for men and women” (which is the real message of feminism– I think that you are letting that “stigma” get to your head a little bit. If you realize that it is indeed a stigma, then why go along with the fem-nazi stereotype, which is what I believe you were describing when you said “you’re with us or against us.” You must not look at the minority group that falls under a label in order to classify a whole movement; it’s like saying that the whole Civil Rights movement must have been violent and full of belligerent radicals because of some violent fringe groups like the Black Panthers, when in reality, there were more peaceful protesters under MLK Jr.s philosophy of peace and conciliatory action.

I answered yes to every question, but I would not consider myself a feminist. I do not believe the label “feminist” should necessarily be applied to everybody who fits the dictionary definition. Whether or not anybody would like it to be that way, feminism has become a sort of group. So many feminists believe certain things and act a certain way that there is a new stigma to it. Many people believe in gender equality and want to have nothing to do with this new idea of feminism. This idea of “You’re with us or against us” isn’t very conductive towards fighting sexism where it is strongest: in the third world.

Go on tumblr and see what has been done to the word
Or don’t
It’s probably better you don’t, cringing so hard isn’t fun
