September is traditionally a hectic month. With back-to-school routines and events in full swing, mental health is important. September is also known as Suicide Awareness Month: its goal is to promote awareness and information about resources that could be vital to a loved one’s life or your own, and remind one another that support is always available.
Here at Middletown South, we provide an environment of support for those who may be struggling. There is always someone to talk to and provide help. Whether it may be harmful thoughts, stress, or anything else, you are not alone
Guidance Counselors
At Middletown South, every student is provided with a guidance counselor who is here to help. They can provide guidance not just for school-related issues, but those outside of it, too. They’re here to help with anything a student may need; don’t be afraid to ask; they’re more than happy to help. There are seven guidance counselors, assigned by last name: Ms. Fortunato, Ms. Thomason, Mr. Georgiou, Mrs. Skinner, Mrs. Murchie, Mr. Nicholes, and Mrs. Higgins. Their offices are located in the guidance office.
School Psychologist
In addition to guidance counselors, our school has a psychologist, Ms. Muniz. Her office is located across the hall from the guidance offices. She is here to help anyone and everyone. If you or someone you know is struggling, Ms. Muniz is a great person to come and talk to. Never be afraid to ask for help; you are never alone.
If you are someone you know is in crisis, call or text 988 or chat 988lifeline.org to reach the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
