Our much loved and adored Mrs. Baratta, a math teacher here at South, has been given the prestigious and much-deserved title of “Teacher of the Year”! We are not surprised that Mrs. Baratta, who plays an active role in the school community, was chosen. After all, in addition to being an excellent teacher, she also dedicates much of her time to helping out the school by participating in events such as “Dancing with the Teachers.”
Mrs. Baratta teaches a large of variety of math classes, including Algebra I. She is known for her genuine love and appreciation of the subject. I was lucky enough to talk to Mrs. Baratta and find out what her thoughts on the award are. Says Mrs. Baratta:
“I am very honored. Being named ‘Teacher of the Year’ has been an extremely humbling experience. I do everything because of genuine love–I love participating in the school community, and I love teaching. I want my students to truly enjoy math. A lot of freshmen come into Algebra with a very cynical attitude; they seem to hate math. My goal is to make those students to realize what a wonderful subject math can be.”
And you have certainly achieved that goal, Mrs. Baratta!
Congratulations, Mrs. Baratta, on being the deserving recipient of this wonderful award!
