Update: Homecoming 2021

Have you been seeing all of the homecoming pictures from other schools on Instagram? Wondering what’s up with South’s homecoming? In recent years, homecoming took place in mid-November, and involved a dance. This year, South Homecoming will look a little different.

Student council advisor Ms. Galli acknowledged that there were some questions in planning this year’s event.

“The main issue was the unpredictability of the Shore Conference in scheduling football games. We were uncertain when we would be playing and if they would be home or away games,” she said.

Even with the uncertainty, the student council was working hard to make the most of the event.

”They wanted to determine the best, most fun, and safe way to celebrate our school and athletes during a difficult time for any indoor events, which would require masking,” Galli explained.

And that’s how this year’s Homecoming event evolved into a tailgate/ bonfire. It will be held on Tuesday, November 23, from 5-8 PM on the back field, behind the school. Plans include lawn games, music, and food trucks, and students are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets. Galli notes that they also plan to recognize the Homecoming Court at South’s Thanksgiving Day game.
