MiddSouth Hockey Rallies Around Chris Falzone
It is always humbling and heartwarming to see a group or community gather around one of its members to ameliorate his or her situation, and Middletown South has done more than that in support of Freshman Chris Falzone, an avid hockey player on the school’s Varsity team who has just been diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, a form of bone cancer. The Mayor’s Cup Friday night ended in a loss for Middletown South’s Hockey team, but this seemed meaningless in comparison to Chris’s situation. In an effort to raise funds for Chris, a few altruistic South students manned a table which welcomed donations for Chris’s cause, seen above. The last minute fundraising stunt was overwhelmingly effective, as the group raised over $2000 which has been contributed directly towards his aid.
If any South students, faculty, or parents missed the hockey game and still wish to donate, this is still possible at a website called Youcaring.com, where a page has been established to securely accept donations for Chris’s cause. Amazingly, the page has already collected over $11,000! While this is an impressive accomplishment, the South community can add to it by donating anonymously and however much is possible to ease this process for the Falzone family. This website will also keep all benefactors up to date with Chris’s condition on the road to a quick recovery.
