Today’s technology has been tailored to make our lives easier and in recent years, Apple’s iPhone has been singled out as the go-to choice for smartphones, with few comparable competitors in the same market besides the Samsung Galaxy series. If someone were to take a poll at South, it would be discovered that the vast majority students own an iPhone or some other Apple product. What many people do not realize, however, is that there are many practical short cuts and “hidden” functions within the phone that even heavy iPhone users may have missed. Check out some of them below!
Talking to Siri
- Shouting at Siri in public can be rather obnoxious and conspicuous, and may attract glares or complaints from those around you. A more “covert” method is to go to Settings > General > Siri, and then select Raise to Speak. Now all you have to do is hold the phone up to your ear to summon Siri.
Check Your Heart Rate
- Do you ever wonder how fast your heart is beating at a given moment in time? Using the “heart rate” app on your iPhone, you place your finger on the camera lens and in a short amount of time, the phone calculates your heart rate.
A Quick Look at Recent Pictures Taken
- Want a faster way to look at the most recent picture you took? Open up the camera app and slide the screen from left to right. The last picture you took will show up.
Define It
- Do you ever come across an unfamiliar word when reading on your device? Look it up using the iOS dictionary. Just hold down on the word that has you perplexed, and then touch Define.
Sync it
- If you are the type of person that likes to keep everything in sync, I would suggest “Automatic Downloads” of your music, apps, books, etc. Go to Settings> Store and then check off whichever of the three you want. All of your apps can now work in perfect harmony.
