Post Holiday Blues

Vacation is over, and it is back to business as usual. Back to school, back to work, back to stress, and back to everyday life, but how can you come back feeling great? Here are some ways to beat the post-holiday blues.

 

  1. Stay active: A great way to keep yourself happy is to keep yourself healthy and active too. Exercise, visit the gym, or even try some jumping jacks before bed. According to mayoclinic.org, exercise can help reduce the symptoms of depression by releasing endorphins in the brain. Stay active to help with staying happy and healthy!

  2. Eat healthy: Keep a balanced diet, when feeling down people often overeat, under eat, or start eating unhealthy foods. A great way to keep your spirits up is to maintain healthy eating habits, or begin a healthier diet. According to healthline.com vitamins found in ceratin foods such as B12, which can be found in cottage cheese, lean beef, and salmon, can help to boost your mood and fight depression.

  3. Call a friend: To keep yourself from being unhappy, try surrounding yourself with people who keep you happy and help you have fun.

  4. Have fun: When you’re feeling like you should be staying in bed, fight the urge to pull the blankets over your head, and try going out with some friends. See a new movie, go shopping or even just go for a walk. Keep with the normal routine and stay happy.

  5. Set reasonable goals:With the New Year people will often make resolutions to keep up with the new year. But when these goals can’t be met you often beat yourself up. Make sure your resolution is something that you’ll be able to keep up with in the coming year.
