Yesterday, at the annual News Conference held by tech giant Apple, CEO Tim Cook unveiled Apple’s highly anticipated step into the wearable computer industry with the Apple SmartWatch as well as 2 new iPhones. The iPhone 6 has a 4.7 inch display and the iPhone 6 Plus has a 5.5 inch screen which now makes it the largest smartphone ever made. The iPhones are equipped with Apple’s new A8 processor, 64-bit architecture, and an M8 coprocessor. iPhone 6 sports a 1334 x 750 resolution and the iPhone 6 Plus has a 1080p resolution. They are also 6.9mm and 7.1mm thick respectively. All of these new additions and improvements will make this the thinnest, brightest, most vivid, most powerful iPhone ever. But they said that last year. The iPhone isn’t exactly revolutionary. But Apple’s step into the ever growing field of wearable technology is. The new Smart Watch is unlike any device Apple has ever made. It works seamlessly with your iPhone and Mac, allowing you to see emails, text messages, maps, reminders, sports scores, the list goes on and on. It has a built-in microphone and has Siri integration. It is available in many different varieties and colors. The Apple Watch, the Apple Watch Sport, and the Apple Watch Edition will be available around early 2015. Considering the options to customize the watch, even down to the way you want your clock to appear, Apple certainly has its foot in the door and more when it comes to this field.

However, you don’t need to wait until 2015 if you want something like the SmartWatch. Samsung, Pebble, Sony, and soon Motorola with the new Moto 360 have already tackled the smart watches; there are a lot of options. Will Apple’s attempt at the tech watch industry crush the competition? Probably. Apple has a history of building up hype for new products and this one is no different. It seems people are going to buy something with an Apple logo on it regardless of what it is. People are already camping outside of Apple store’s around the world for the iPhone 6 in places like London and New York City. Not to say they don’t have a method to their madness. Apple makes great products and I am very excited for the new iPhone’s and the SmartWatch. Not enough to camp out for one, but excited none-the-less.
