The Eagle Eye reached out to all of the new teachers at South in order to better get to know them. If you had to participate in an Olympic sport, what would it be? Field hockey — I played for 10 years and now I’m the Freshman Coach at South

Who is your favorite Disney character and why? Pluto; he’s the coolest dog around

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go and why? Switzerland, to climb as many mountains as possible… I am a mountain climber after all.

What is something interesting about you that no one knows? I grew up on a dairy farm with over 180 cattle, my last name is Carton, and I’m lactose intolerant… ironic right!

Mr. Conklin

What college did you attend? I attended The College of New Jersey and graduated in 2007 with a BA in Journalism and Professional Writing.

Favorite show you’ve binge watched recently? My favorite TV show is definitely Better Call Saul, the prequel to Breaking Bad. I haven’t binge watched it recently but I’m sure it’s just a matter of time.

What is your most played song of summer 2016? I honestly don’t know.  I mostly listen to sports talk on the radio.

If you had to participate in an Olympic sport, what would it be? Definitely basketball since I am a basketball coach and played the sport growing up my whole life.

Who is your favorite Disney character and why? Michael Jordan in Space Jam – even though that’s kind of cheating.

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go and why? I would love to go to Hawaii if I could choose to go anywhere.

What is something interesting about you that no one knows?  Hmm.  I have an aquarium with two clownfish (like Nemo) but they don’t have names.

What college did you attend? I graduated from Monmouth University with a BS in Mathematics and an endorsement in Special Education.

Who is your favorite Disney character and why? Pluto because I love his floppy ears and he is Mickey’s faithful companion.

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go and why? I would love to travel to Fiji because the water and scenery look amazing.

What is something interesting about you that no one knows? I was in an International Lifesaving competition held in Japan, I represented the United States.

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go and why?  I would love to go to Australia to see the kangaroos in the outback and to see the Tasmanian devils

What is something interesting about you that no one knows? An interesting fact is that I really enjoy reading next to a fire in the winter.

If you had to participate in an Olympic sport, what would it be? Soccer

Who is your favorite Disney character and why? Kristoff from Frozen. My daughters love Frozen and I have a significant amount of experience being him at our daily tea parties.

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go and why? Rome, Italy, and Athens, Greece. I love Ancient Roman/Greek history and have always wanted to see the ruins.

What is something interesting about you that no one knows? I played soccer for a few weeks in Europe (Portugal) against the U18 squads from most of the major pro teams in the country during my senior year here at South!

Mr. Nemanti

What college did you attend? I attended Monmouth University for my Bachelors and Masters Degree.  I have a Bachelor’s in History/Education and my Masters Degree is in History.

Favorite show you’ve binge watched recently? I love Planet Earth.  It’s visually stunning and I love watching it with my daughters.

What is your most played song of summer 2016? Coldplay is constantly playing in my car when my daughters aren’t listening to Kidz Bop.  

If you had to participate in an Olympic sport, what would it be? Summer Olympics it would be water polo, winter Olympics it would be ice hockey or curling.

Who is your favorite Disney character and why? My favorite character would have to be Olaf from Frozen. I have watched that film over a 100 times with my daughters and that character makes me laugh each time I watch it.

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go and why? I would love to visit Norway.  The country has amazing natural beauty and I have family that lives in Kristiansand (Southern Norway).

What is something interesting about you that no one knows? I come from a family of teachers.  My mother was a teacher, my father was a college professor, my brother is working towards becoming a math teacher and I have cousins that are college professors.  I am incredibly happy and fulfilled to be following in my family’s footsteps.

If you had to participate in an Olympic sport, what would it be? I’m not very athletic but I enjoy watching rowing.

If you had to participate in an Olympic sport, what would it be?  The Giant Ski jump, because I think if I could get over the fear it would feel like flying.

Who is your favorite Disney character and why?  Woody from Toy Story. My children LOVE Toy Story and Woody was my son’s first toy that he became attached to.  I love the story of Woody being a leader and yet still being vulnerable.

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go and why? Bhutan, it has restricted travel for visitors and it has a unique culture that I would love to explore.

What is something interesting about you that no one knows? I can say and sing the ABC’s backwards very quickly.

What college did you attend? I attended Seton Hall University undergrad and Monmouth University for graduate school.

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go and why?  I would go to Italy….most beautiful place, love it there!
