This year’s wrestling team had a noteworthy season, qualifying for both the state sectional tournament and the Shore Conference tournament. Led by captains Louis Avena, Brendan Rumsby, and Rob Hulse, the team finished Top 6 in the District 22 Tournament and Top 5 in the Shore Conference A-North Tournament. Brendan Rumsby placed Top 3 in the District 22 Tournament and Top 6 in the Region 6 Tournament. He ended his senior season ranked #7 in the Shore Conference with an impressive record of 25-7. Senior Rob Hulse was a District 22 finalist and also finished Top 6 in the Region 6 Tournament, ending the season with a record of 23-11. Senior Louis Avena placed Top 3 at both the Icebreaker Tournament and the Walter Woods Tournament. He finished his senior season with a 24-11 record. The team’s success was also bolstered by seniors Alex Asfar, Sean Killeen, Christian DeSanctis, Mike West, Graham Connett, and Dylan Murphy. Coach Atterbury is looking forward to a successful season next year, when the team will be led by Adam Markmann and Justin Weimer, who both had successful sophomore seasons. They will also rely on the talents of Jack Hardzewicz, Will McCauley, Danny Ward, Hugh MacLelland, and Devon Slavin, who all had 10 or more wins this season.
