Congratulations to Joanne Luciano, the NJ.com Coach of the Year. Mrs. Luciano has been coaching gymnastics at South for 16 years. After a winning season the girls gymnastics team finished second at the Shore Conference Championships and fourth place at the State Championship meet. , “I have enjoyed coaching gymnastics at Middletown South because it has given me the opportunity to not only help athletes improve upon their gymnastics performances, but instill in each one of them important life lessons such as integrity, honesty, selflessness, good sportsmanship, rebounding from failures and setbacks, learning how to set goals, and what steps to take to achieve them.” Luciano said in an interview with Liz Matakevitch. With a young team comprised of sophomores Colleen Addario, Sarah Schon, and Christina Frandsen, and freshmen Keogh sisters Katie and Emma and Olivia Garvin,  the team is looking to continue their success next fall.  South gymnastics finished 9-3 in regular season this year, improving on its 7-8 record from the previous year.
